Ball games were played in ancient China and Egypt as early as around 2500 BC. The balls were initially made of animal skins, bladders or cork. Rubber balls only spread after the 16th century, since Europeans did not know natural rubber existed before the discovery of the Americas. Many new and diverse ball games evolved over the last one hundred years, and each of them have specified the dimensions and properties of their accepted ball. And you’ll find balls of all shapes, sizes and materials at Lupa, too.
