Pétanque is a game of balls with origins in France. It got its name from the contraction of the French words pieds tanqués, which mean “motionless legs”. Ball games enjoyed amazing popularity in the French army from as early as the Middle Ages, leading to their being banned for soldiers by King Charles IV for the fear of it taking up too much of their attention. At Lupa, you can enjoy the game no questions asked. There’s plenty of sand for it, too.
